Can you share your journey, how did UX Media House come into existence, and what inspired you to start these ventures?

Andrew Rice: I started building websites in the late 1990’s. I really got serious about starting a website hosting and maintenance business in 2009. My family and I love to travel, and a business that was able to be managed and run online was ideal for me. The flexibility of working online has offered my family and I the opportunity to live in Hawaii, Costa Rica and now in Colorado.

In your opinion, what are the key trends shaping website design and functionality in 2025, and how should businesses adapt?

Andrew Rice: I believe it has the potential to replace website developers, but only for very simple sites. Larger businesses will always need something tailored to their needs. That is what we specialize in and are proud of the relationship we develop with our clients. Nothing can replace picking up the phone and getting a response from a real person who understands your website and how it was built. That said, for simple, budget-minded businesses, I think AI will be a viable option for website development.

What are the most common mistakes you see in web development, and how can companies improve their websites to drive better engagement and conversions?

Andrew Rice: Many factors impact website performance and speed. When we at UX Media House build a site, we use trusted and well-supported tools. We have been doing this for over 25 years. We have made and learned from the mistakes many younger web developers still make. In short, site performance and speed come down to a well-developed and coded site and a delivery network that optimizes speed.

Basically one must emphasize long-term reliability over shortcuts. My experience reveals that web development isn’t just about flashy visuals but about building with a solid foundation, prioritizing both code quality and trusted frameworks to ensure long-term performance.

How do SEO and website optimization synergize to enhance rankings and visibility, and what key factors should businesses prioritize when developing a website?

Andrew Rice: Think of it like this. A website is like an island in the middle of the ocean. It can be a beautiful and amazing island, but if nobody knows it’s there…nobody will visit. We team up with an amazing Digital Marketing team to help people find your website. In my POV, analogy rings true in today’s competitive landscape. Visibility is just as critical as design. I am merely underlining the importance of ongoing optimization efforts and how pairing development with strategic SEO ensures that websites don’t just exist but thrive in search results. SEO and digital marketing are major factors in website’s visibility.

What do you think is the future of websites and web development? How do you see AI playing a role in shaping the next generation of websites and digital experiences?

Andrew Rice: Even though I have addressed this in the prior section, this is just an extended understanding about AI and its role in shaping the next generation of website and digital experiences. I would suggest a balanced approach to AI in web development, recognizing its ability to accelerate simple builds while emphasizing the irreplaceable human touch in complex, custom solutions. The future may be AI-assisted, but human creativity and empathy will continue to lead the way.

Do you think outsourcing website development and maintenance is a smart strategy for small and medium-sized businesses looking to scale? In your opinion, what aspects of outsourcing web services yield the best results for business growth?

The trick is finding a developer that understands the way you, as a company, build and develop your sites. There are a lot of moving parts, and inevitably it will take a certain amount of training. I would highlight an often-overlooked truth in outsourcing. Relationship-building is key. It’s not just about saving costs but aligning with the right partners who understand your vision, workflows, and values. When done right, outsourcing becomes a strategic asset for scalability.
